The ontological distinction between “nature” and “culture” has shaped fields of knowledge and practice for centuries, reinforcing an anthropocentric view of “nature.”
This segmentation is reaching its limits, particularly in the context of the urgent need to address environmental and social crises, and new metadisciplinary approaches are emerging that propose a different way of addressing the interactions between humans and nature, and between society and the environment.
Intended for scientists, doctoral candidates, and students, this lecture series brings together experts from the humanities and social sciences on one hand, and ecology (in the broad sense) and environmental studies on the other, to explore major environmental issues. In collaboration with the University of Montpellier (UM), Paul Valéry University (UPVM), the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme – Sciences et Société Unies pour un autre Développement (MSH-SUD), and the BiodivOc and RIVOC Key Challenges.
